John and Sandy's RV Adventure Journal

San Antonio

San Antonio

Today is our pre-departure day. We got our projects done and headed up to have Thai dinner with Katie, Kirk and Reagan. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time with them while we were here, but it was great to see them and meet our niece Reagan.

Today is a real washout. We had rain overnight and heavy rain with thunder and lighting all morning and into the afternoon. It did clear up for a while and we got to relax outside. Now it was time for our friends, Jim and Diane to head home so we dropped them at the airport and then we grounded ourselves tonight.

A cold front and big storms came through last night. We relaxed during the day and did some reading. Then regrouped and headed to miniature golf at Embassy Golf and played 36 holes.

It’s time for dinner and we want to all try more BBQ, so we went to The Barbecue Station in North San Antonio. John and I shared a pound of brisket and Jim and Diane got a pound of brisket. This is the best way to go for the money. We all agreed, the Big Bib BBQ was really good, but this is a little better.

We all took a time-out day and headed to the pool. Did some reading and relaxing.

Later, we regrouped and headed to The Cove Bar and Grill for open mic. Niko was the host. It was a different format for me, but it worked out fine and Chicago Sandy got to play a few songs. While we were there some big storms came in and they subsided for the drive home and then they broke loose again. We were lucky and didn’t get any hail, just lots of thunder, lighting and torrential rain.
