Jonestown

It’s a rainy, rainy morning. We did some projects since it’s our pre-departure day. Gary and Maddie had us over early afternoon for homemade chili. We visited for a while and then headed home to finish our projects. Tonight G&M picked us up and we headed to Heisey’s Diner for dinner.

We have a rainy day today. We did more research on our summer itinerary and then headed to Hollywood Casino and Penn Natl Racetrack. Gary and Maddie decided to stay home. We did some gambling and had a few cocktails and then went to the track. It’s right at the casino which is nice. It’s still damp with a few light showers. We found a table outside under the overhang. It’s a nice track that sits in a valley with small mountains around it.

Gary and Maddie came by around 1pm and we headed to Jersey Joe’s for lunch. We had Philly cheese-steaks and they were good. We headed back to G&M’s and relaxed at their house for a while. Now G&M took us around the Army base where we saw a mama deer and a really small fawn. We went around lakes and then to the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. This one is another big cemetery. Now time for a cocktail, so we headed to Moose for drinks and tacos. We had a nightcap at our place.

We took a walk this morning and on our way saw a blue jay, baby rabbit, and 2 fawns. We headed to Hershey to explore. We first went on the Hershey Chocolate World Tour. Then we did the Hershey Tasting Tour where we learned how to taste chocolate and tasted 4 different kinds. Dark, Milk, Dagoba (even a darker chocolate) and Scharffen Berger. You want to taste chocolate like wine. First smell, then break a piece off by your ear. The louder the snap, the more chocolate there is in it. Then put it on your tongue but don’t chew it, let it melt and taste the flavors. Try to think of all the things it tastes like. It’s perfect timing for our next tour.

We hopped on the trolley for a tour around Hershey and learn about it’s history. They gave us 4 different types of chocolate along the way. We past by Hollywood casino of the way home, so we stopped for a while, had a few cocktails and did a little gambling.
