Panama City Beach

This mornings coffee is inside. The eastern bands of Hurricane Nate are over our area. We have a rain with some sporadic downpours. We have a little wind but not much. So most of today will be an inside catch-up and football day.
Later in the afternoon we headed to Whiskeys Saloon for open mic. Melissa (Blue Mama) and Trey were there. Hal the host had Chicago Sandy jam the blues with Blue Mama. Trey sat in for one song, then he had to leave to host another jam tonight down the road. We talked to Rod the sax player and Matt the bass player for a while. After the jam was over we headed home.

OK, so another hurricane is upon us. Hurricane Nate. Fortunately for us Nate is making landfall a hundred miles or so west as a Cat 1. We will still get some wind and rain but won’t have to evacuate. Most of the day was nice but getting really humid. By late afternoon the rain started and tornado watch and warning. The storm is moving fast so no tornado problem. We hunkered down and watched tv tonight.

We did our 2 mile beach walk this morning. Even though its only 2 miles it takes us 2-3 hours because we move slow, mosey in the surf and sit, relax, listen and watch the waves. Last night, Chicago Sandy was invited to come to Dat Cajun Place tonight to sit in and play harmonica with Trey and his band the Bone Daddy Band. Trey on vocals and guitar, DJ on bass and vocals and PJ on drums. I have played with DJ before at Whiskeys open mic. Chicago Sandy got to play a whole set with with the band. Now a cocktail and the nights not over.

We headed about 8 miles to the Beach House Bar. There were fireworks going off at pier park so we watched them a few minutes. Blue Mama invited Chicago Sandy to stop by and play a few songs with her band, the Blue Mama Blues Band. We had a great day.

TJ and his daughter Melissa came over. TJ was our neighbor at Lazy Lakes and now he’s living up in this area. We hung our for a while and had a cookout. Now a little pool time. There is an open mic tonight at Busters Beer and Bait about 5 miles from here. So we all headed there.
It’s a perfect night and the jam is outside. KC Phelps is the host. Chicago Sandy introduced herself and met KC, Richard, Mike, Chuck and Melissa Califano (Blue Mama). Blue Mama invited Chicago Sandy to jam the blues with her. We got to play for almost an hour. After playing we had some cocktails and another artist, Trey came over. He’s seen Chicago Sandy at Whiskeys and tomorrow his band the Bone Daddy Band is playing and invited Chicago Sandy to stop by. We had a great evening and it was great to see TJ and Melissa.
