John and Sandy's RV Adventure Journal

Winslow, AZ

We were up and on the road by 6am. We are traveling about 370 miles today to Meteor Crater RV Park near Winslow AZ. We got in and set up by early afternoon.
After regrouping, we headed to Winslow so we could be “Standin on the Corner in Winslow Arizona”, that was the first song the Eagles released and was written by Jackson Browne. We stopped at the visitors center and Bob was very informative on the area and stuff to do.
Then we took a walk along the Santa Fe Railroad path and stopped at the totem pole and then at the old caboose and Santa Fe rail cars. We walked to Rt 66 and the Standin on the corner park and mural. Now we walked to the La Posada Hotel. This is a refurbished Fred Harvey Hotel from back in the 60’s. We walked around the gardens then inside. Back in the 60’s it was a big thing to have social areas, so there are lots of little areas you can sit and play games or relax. Also one of the new owners, Tina Mion is an artist with paintings and sculptures. However, most of her paintings carry a dark weird theme to them. Some are kinda scary.
It’s Friday night in Winslow, so we walked to Bojo’s Grill and Sports Bar for a cocktail. It’s really only a grill with a TV and small counter that is the bar. They had a fish fry tonight so we decided on that and then headed home.
