Nicer morning. It’s about 70 now and we have a heat wave coming. We are exploring Durham today and Sarah P Duke Gardens which is part of Duke University in Durham. The gardens are so nice and huge. We also saw lots of different birds. We took a walk around a small part of the university. We would definitely recommend a visit here.
Falls Lake St. Park
Another cold morning with our furnace going. We did a little reading and then we headed to Falls Lake Golf Course. Unfortunately we couldn’t get out because of a tournament. They have a driving range so we hit some balls. Now we headed home and did some reading and I practiced on my ukulele.
Its a cold morning for us. Only 55 degrees. It gave us a good excuse to test our furnace. John is ready for a hike. I dropped him off so he could hike 4 miles on the mountain to sea trail. At the Rolling View part of Falls Lake St Park I waited for him. I practiced harmonica and did some reading while relaxing and watching nature. Now we took a drive to explore downtown Wake Forest. There isn’t much there so on the way back we stopped at Carolina Ale House for cocktails and dinner.
Today we headed to south of Raleigh to Historic Yates Mill. We did a mile hike around the mill pond and saw a rabbit and lots of birds. By the dam and the mill and saw some fish and snake skins. We went through the visitors center and learned about the area and the mill. Now another 1 mile hike and this time saw a couple deer. We headed to Wake Forest and stopped at Olive Garden for dinner.
