Fredricksburg VA – Lake Anna St. Park

Happy 19th B’day Magic!! First Magic got gourmet, which is canned cat food. Now we had our coffee outside while she explored our site. We got all Magic’s toys out with catnip and let her go wild. However, that was a lot, so now she needs a break.
We are heading up to the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. We stopped at the visitors center to get information on the Civil War battle in 1863. We did the driving tour with a few hikes on the battlefields along the way. It’s one thing to read the history books and another to actually be on the land where 10’s of thousands of men died.
Now we drove up to the Fredricksburg Battlefield Natl Park. There was a ranger guided walk along the “Sunken Road” area of the Fredricksburg battle in 1862. Once again listening to how the men both on the Union and Confederate side fought and died during this battle makes us appreciate and commend all of our military men and women who put their lives in jeopardy to protect us. After the ranger walk, we watched a 30 minute movie about the 4 battles waged in this area, the Fredricksburg, the Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Wilderness and the Chancellorsville battles.
We decided to walk around Fredricksburg, but we were done with history today, so we saw the Bavarian Chef Restaurant and stopped for a cold one. We ended up getting a great German dinner before heading home.
